The digital age has normalized the use of social media as platforms for expressing oneself. Trends are all over the place, and they have created a standard wherein if one doesn’t comply with them, that individual no longer belongs.
This is the kind of mentality Brandon, a well-renowned artist, wishes to eradicate from society. He is an advocate of the truth that one’s identity should come from within and not from external factors such as societal expectations.
Brandon Mesén, more popularly known as Mesén Around, has played around five hundred shows and has been aired on over one hundred radio stations. And just recently, he was featured on JUKA Radio in Germany, with over seventy thousand people tuning in.
His passion for music manifested itself during his childhood when he would take a look at his parents’ bedroom mirror and picture himself performing in front of thousands of people cheering him on. From that moment on, the reflection he saw stuck with him, and he knew he could no longer let go of what he believed to be his destiny.
When he was six years old, Brandon’s mother gave him his first miniature drum kit, and it kicked off his skills in creating a combination of rhythm and beats. At that point in his life, he did not know music could be a profession. And just like any kid his age, he was simply having fun and ‘messing around.’
A pivotal moment for Brandon’s musical career was when, at the age of fifteen, his old friend from school gave him a small black ukulele. This encouraged him to focus on songwriting and perfecting his craft. His progress caught his mother’s attention, and so on his sixteenth birthday, he was given his first-ever acoustic guitar. As he held the stringed instrument in his hands, he felt an indescribable connection that told him to never let go.
And although Brandon has already come a long way today, he still owes much of his success to his humble beginnings in the streets of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Back then, he was just making around $100 for 3 hours worth of performing. But the budding musician toughened his spirits because if he could get through that, he could do just about anything. And for five years, he began contacting smaller venues and coffee shops and booked himself some gigs.
It didn’t take long before the world finally got enamored by Brandon’s charm, which is his weirdness. With larger shows and better records, he finally got to where he is today. And with dreams as big as ever, Brandon wishes to win some Grammy Awards and to tour all around Europe while raising the banners of peace, love, and music. On top of all of that, he is also planning to drop a book this summer and dedicate it to all the weird kids around the world.
News about Brandon’s new album – Feels Good To Be A Weird Kid – has been circulating the web for over a year now. Fans have been anticipating it for as long as they can remember. But fortunately, the wait is finally over because the album is already bound for release this summer.
The message of Brandon’s upcoming album goes for everybody, but it is especially for those who have been bullied for being different. Brandon empowers all the ‘weird kids’ to spread the message with him and to stand up for themselves. Brandon’s music is available on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music.
