The world is in the middle of one of the biggest mental health crises. Cases of depression, anxiety, and even suicide are on the rise. In these abnormal times, the need for online resources and support systems are in great demand. In response to the growing need, website and podcast BrokenGirl Unchained has heeded that call to arms.
The online platform is a library of podcasts, interviews, blogs, and stories that speak of some of today’s most sensitive topics, including mental health, suicide, women abuse, divorce, betrayal, grief, and many more—started by Juliet Ramos, a thirty-eight-year-old single mother from Modesto, California, with a story to tell. Juliet fought through a divorce and estrangement from her family. Today, she practically raises her kids on her own and has created a good life for them.
More than anything, Juliet Ramos knows what it’s like to go through the fire. And with her newfound mission to spread positivity amid the world’s negativity, she uses BrokenGirl Unchained to inspire and motivate people everywhere to persevere and overcome.
Juliet hasn’t had it easy. She would lose support and connection from her immediate and extended family after deciding to back her husband’s poor decisions. The same husband who she sacrificed her family for would soon become the source of her deepest hurts. “I had never felt my heart shatter in the most natural form,” recalls Juliet Ramos. “That pain was so rich, there was no bottle in the world I could drink from enough to numb that kind of pain.”
But Juliet was always honest and expressive, even when people would accuse her for it. For most of her life, people mocked her to express her feelings, which led to feelings of invalidation, self-doubt, and a lack of self-worth. Juliet struggled through some of the hardest bumps, but she was always honest and authentic about it.
When given a chance to speak her mind through a blog and podcast, she took the opportunity in hopes that it would bring her healing. In the process, she created BrokenGirl Unchained, a community that would not just restore her but many others who avidly follow Juliet’s story and principles.
Today, the podcast show and website have become a symbol of hope to all those who struggle with rejection, pain, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. BrokenGirl Unchained has partnered with organizations like Life After Project to battle mental health stigmas and advocate for suicide prevention initiatives. Juliet also uses her authenticity to speak life to those who need it. “They say revenge is a dish best served cold,” shares Juliet. “I say it’s your comeback story. Everyone loves a comeback story.”
BrokenGirl Unchained is a place for people who struggle with trauma, divorce, narcissistic abuse, and domestic abuse. It gives voice to many people- whether professionals, experts, celebrities, or everyday people—to speak their minds and share their experience, pain, and realizations with others.
Through her brand, Juliet Ramos aims to journey with more and more people who struggle with mental health, depression, and suicidal thoughts. She hopes that by sharing her pain, people would start sharing theirs and thus begin their healing and restoration journey. To follow BrokenGirl Unchained and Juliet Ramos, visit the show’s website, Spotify, and Instagram account.
