According to reports, the cooperation between EA Sports and FIFA has come to an end.
EVP, Group GM, EA SPORTS & Racing, announced the monumental change for next year in a statement on the official EA Sports website.
In the “exciting new age,” the game will be renamed “EA Sports FC,” while exclusive licenses and collaborations will remain. In the summer, further information will be available.
Since FIFA 95, EA and FIFA have had a nearly 30-year relationship, with the franchise reaching unprecedented heights and yearly editions being developed, distributed, and enjoyed by millions of players.
The Premier League, UEFA, and Nike will all be associated with EA Sports’ football game, with FIFA 23 being the last iteration.
“This new independent platform will open up new doors for innovation, creation, and evolution.” “We’re committed to ensuring EA SPORTS FC is a symbol of transformation as EA SPORTS,” Weber said in an official statement.
“We’re committed to meaningfully reinvesting in the sport, and we’re pleased to collaborate with a growing number of partners to deliver new authentic experiences to a worldwide community of fans.” I want to provide additional information about these plans in the next few months.
“EA SPORTS FC will enable us to accomplish this vision and much more… but not before we release our most expansive game yet with our current naming rights partner, FIFA, for another year.” We’re working hard to make the next FIFA the best game we’ve ever made, with more features, game modes, World Cup material, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any previous FIFA title.
“We’re tremendously eager to work with all of you to shape the future of global football, and we’ll be happy to share more information about EA SPORTS FC when it launches in summer 2023.”
“The sport’s future is bright, as football fandom spans the globe.” For nearly three decades, global football has been a part of EA SPORTS, and we’re ensuring that it will continue to be for decades to come. ”
Weber previously stated that EA was examining its naming rights arrangement with FIFA and that the company had registered trademarks in the United Kingdom and the European Union, implying that the agreement would be terminated.
EA has almost 300 separate license partners, giving them access to over 19,000 players and 700 teams, over 100 stadiums, and 30 leagues, as well as the Champions League and Europa League contests.
The present arrangement between EA Sports and FIFA, which was set to expire after this summer’s World Cup in Qatar, has been extended to include the Women’s World Cup. According to the corporation, 150 million FIFA video game players will have to adjust to the new name “EA Sports FC” for the series after the tournament.
