For Geez Da Gawd, quitting is not an option when it comes to chasing his dreams to become the top hip-hop artist. His authenticity and dedication to connect with his fans makes him stand out from the rest.
The up-and-coming artist has been through a lot of hardships with his budding career. Despite all of his doubts, his growing fanbase motivated him to put out more of his craft. “I get DMs of comments from a fan telling me how my music got them through something difficult,” he claimed.
Realizing that his music has touched the lives of many, Geez Da Gawd is even more eager to create and improve his craft. Born in Westside Baltimore, the 28-year-old artist boasts a “unique sound unlike any other.”
A testament to his passion for his craft is the fact that he engineers all of his track. Within a span of five years into the music industry, Geez Da Gawd now produces his music himself. Truly, he does all the work in the name of passion. From mixing to publishing to marketing, he pours everything into every record he puts out in the world. He’s proud of the fact that he creates multiple songs in only a day.
Geez Da Gawd is pure and genuine with the lyrics of his music. The lyrics of his craft have focused mainly on everything that has happened in his life. He even said that new listeners “may need to buckle up for the ride” as he aims to make records that are raw and uncut.
Everything started with rapping in the streets just to pass time together with his peers. After hearing the same mainstream songs on the radio, Geez Da Gawd was ready to give the world a taste of his capabilities.
His desire to listen to something different motivated him to pursue his art. His originality and authenticity also played a factor in starting his career. Moreover, Geez Da Gawd listens to similar artists when writing music to motivate himself. These artists include Future, Big Sean, Sada Baby, Rio Da Yung OG, Icewear Vezzo, Lil Dirk, and G Herbo.
He first made the waves in 2018 with his single “Little Brother.” This was produced by Gtrak, a well-known Eastside producer from Detroit. His music has graced radio airwaves and stations like 92Q Jams Baltimore and 93.9 WKYS DC.
Apart from the freedom of making art as a reason as to why he loves being an artist, the fans have also played a role on why he continues to be one. Somehow they became a lifeline to his career as an artist.
“Honestly, the most rewarding thing is when people realize how hard you have worked to create the art,” Geez Da Gawd commented. “When they sing every word to you on stage, that energy hits differently. That’s what I do it for,” he continued.
Despite his love for his craft, Geez Da Gawd is struggling to break through the music landscape. With mainstream pop and hip-hop artists dominating the field, he is still barely scratching the surface in the competition. Nevertheless, he is still prepared to up his game to finally rise amid adversities.
With studios leaving his masterpieces unfinished or edited poorly, Geez Da Gawd started mixing his own music in the year 2016. He established his own studio and created Prominence Records LLC. It easily reached success, attracting marketing partnerships from Google and label services for other artists. This includes Yahboy Soda making his way to the industry in the next few months.
Geez Da Gawd sees himself achieving success as an independent artist in America in the next five years. His hip-hop genre is already a staple in the country and has a massive following composed of millennials.
