The independent music world has stood witness to the rise of producer and hip-hop artist Henny West, who continues to electrify crowds and listeners through his hard-hitting tracks. The Carson, California-based artist has released a total of four albums under his stand-alone entertainment label, Dedicated To You Entertainment. And as the artist continues to gain momentum, he looks to grow that roster of high-value songs soon.
Henny is a musician, producer, and music engineer who has also worn a songwriter’s hat various times. He started a career in music because he is from a family of musicians. He’s extremely passionate about two things: creating works of art in the form of sound waves and building a future for his family. “I kept doing it because I love the process of making something out of nothing,” shares the hip-hop musician. “Making a better life for myself and my family inspires me to keep going.”
Henny West is fresh out of launching his latest project, 1440. The title of the record pays tribute to the number of minutes in one day and hit airwaves amid the global health crisis. The album’s theme is about telling people what it takes to make the most out of our limited time. “Everyone has the same amount of minutes in a day. How you spend your time is what really matters,” explains Henny about his latest record. “This album for me told my story of not being in a dark place. I was in a better place in my life.” Throughout quarantines and lockdowns, Henny chose to remain productive, writing songs almost every day and keeping a laser focus on his work and goals.
Henny has released three other albums entitled Story to Tell, Show Me the Light, and Bout Time. Story to Tell was the artist’s first album and featured his story. The next album he launched was Show Me the Light, which talked about the artist’s bouts with depression and what helped him conquer the pits of mental illness. Later, Henny West would release Bout Time, a compilation album that faced various challenges during its creation.
The artist’s journey growing up was far from a walk in the park. He struggled early on due to the absence of both of his parents. Henny grew up with his grandparents, who provided him with all the love and support he needed. Later, the artist would transfer to another neighborhood at eighteen, which posed various trials and challenges. “I was almost killed,” narrates Henny West. “I was shot, and I didn’t think I was going to make it. By the grace of God, I was able to pull through.”
Today, he takes his tests and uses it as motivation to keep pushing forward. With all he has experienced in life, Henny is convinced that life has great things in store for him. He continues to move forward and remains focused on what he hopes to achieve. Henny hopes to turn his love for music into a full-time career and hopes to support his family through his passion.
Apart from releasing his music, Henny West has also played a hand as a music director and engineer for several other artists’ albums. He continues to let his love for music shine through the most challenging times and hopes to one day impact the world through his music.
