Everywhere people go, it will be impossible to get away from art. The world is abundant with music and visual arts of all kinds, from paintings and statues to murals and photography. However, the art world is divided between the conventional norm and the underground culture. The latter of which is where Posterchild Media has been thriving.
Posterchild Media is a brand built by Jimmy Easton, a multifaceted director with an eye for fashion and detail. All his life, Jimmy had always been passionate about all forms of art. He grew up playing video games that would influence the art that Jimmy created. Around middle school, Jimmy would burn playlists into CDs at home and walk around the halls and the town pretending they were the soundtracks of his life. By high school, Jimmy would be on punishment. Like any angst-ridden teenager, he would use music and the visual arts as an outlet for his emotions.
Since his father was a photographer, Jimmy would spend a summer working with him. Jimmy’s dad had him learn the entire Adobe Lightroom software from cover to cover. At the time, he felt that it was such a hassle but later realized how helpful that experience would be as professionals and magazines mainly used the software at the time.
Jimmy Easton would get the opportunity to intern at a photography studio around the 10th grade. By meeting amazing people, he would be inspired to pursue a career in photography. Some of Jimmy’s fellow interns happened to go to school with him, and they decided that they would bring in something new at the school. They set up castings for different shoots, dubbing them “The Atlanta Experience.”
When he finally graduated high school, Jimmy’s father wanted him to get his first job. He would apply to the usual jobs people his age would get, trying out Barnes & Noble and the movie theater. However, none of them called back until he finally applied as a photographer at CNN. Despite being fresh out of high school, they hired him. From there, Jimmy worked and amassed enough experience that would allow him to start his own photography business, Posterchild Media.
As a photographer, Jimmy often experiments with different forms of visual arts. From drawings and paintings to photography and photo manipulation, he likes to convey each form of art as a different type of expression. Jimmy wants to see people from different perspectives, incorporate color, and change masculinity and self-reflection views.
Posterchild Media was created to become an authentic outlet of expression to uplift others. Being a gay person of color, Jimmy illustrates a visual scene through his camera lens, whether the subject is hip-hop, LGBT-related, cosplay, ballroom culture, or fashion, to name a few. Posterchild Media captures some of the vastly different controversial intersections of Black queer culture from the perspective of an individual of Generation Z.
Jimmy Easton and Posterchild Media help people feel more empowered, confident, and free without the weights of competition and comparison. His goal is to help catalyze people’s potential and help them reach their true calling and attain their highest goals.
