A Better Chance for Youth Futures Inc. founder Monique Robinson is helping many families in the community as she and her team of volunteers assist in finding promising scholarship grants that will give children a quality education and a better life in the future. The organization offers hope to less fortunate families who have no means to send their children to higher education, but a desire for them to have equal opportunities and the best education possible.

Monique Robinson’s passion for education has exceeded what most people would expect from an educator as she has dedicated her life and resources to ensuring that children from impoverished communities get the chance to make something out of themselves by getting a good education. In 2009, Robinson was awarded Teacher of the Year for Imagine Schools in her district and region for all the contributions she has given to education.

Monique Robinson completed a degree in psychology from Wilberforce University and a MEd in education leadership and an EdS in education leadership. She is a passionate advocate for historically black colleges and universities. Aside from running A Better Chance for Youth Futures Inc., she also offers consultancy services on grant writing, test preparation, and scholar preparation letters.

Question: Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Monique Robinson: I was a classroom teacher, counselor, and former administrator that decided our scholars need to learn more about life after high school by educating families about scholarships, financial aid, and entrepreneurship.

Question: Where did you get the drive to continue even though things were so hard?

Monique Robinson: I use the success of my scholars to push me to greater when they’re successful so am I.

Question: So, how are things going today? How did grit and resilience lead to your eventual success?

Monique Robinson: Today we are growing, and we have developed a YouTube channel to allow others to hear conversations that will impact our community and provide scholarship assistance and consulting to the masses.

Question: What do you think makes your company stand out? Can you share a story?

Monique Robinson: We are available nationwide and locally. We can come to you or virtually discuss options to assist.

Question: Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out?”

Monique Robinson: Do what you love and it doesn’t seem like working. It’s your passion that has become your profit for you.

Question: None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful to who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Monique Robinson: There are so many people, but to be safe, I would say my family because they are all supportive in all my endeavors. Plus my sister circle; they’re always challenging and supporting me to make changes for the better.

Question: How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Monique Robinson: I am the linkage to help create other leaders and assist families one scholar at a time.
