“YOU ARE A GIFT” SONG AND “WELCOME TO EARTH” SELF CARE INITIATIVE BY AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR, AARON ABLEMAN, ARE A RARE GIFT FOR FAMILIES RIGHT NOW
Award-winning author-artist Aaron Ableman is joining hands with other influential artists to spearhead a mental & environmental health movement for families through the arts. The storytelling-based initiative, entitled “Welcome To Earth”, includes an acclaimed book, an interactive NFT collection and music album, featuring the new SINGLE “You Are A Gift” with Marya Stark (coming out this Nov 20th, 2021 for World Children’s Day). The project aims to bring health, wellness, and environmental action through “edutainment” to children and parents.
Through this ongoing project, Ableman offers a timely toolkit to support parents (and therefore their kids) in fighting mental health, physical illness, and climate change all at once. Ableman, a multi-hyphenate artist-author-activist, has focused this unique work on how holistic health for families comes down to the daily rituals we practice at home; from media diets to food diets to how we positively engage our children in the many causes of our world.
After an unprecedented year of historic crises, people across the world are faced with solving a global health pandemic, a climate emergency, and an economic meltdown exacerbated by polarizing racial and political battles. The consequences are often less newsworthy, like the dire mental health statistics in family environments. There are 40 million people unemployed in the United States alone with a 40% increase in homicides and domestic abuse on the rise at a rate never seen before. The climate and biodiversity emergency make the weather channel look like a horror show. This coming World Children’s Day, on the heels of the world’s leaders coming together for COP 26 (the United Nations climate conference), families worldwide are seeking empowering stories, songs and calls to action to give purpose to this ailing world being inherited.
Ableman and Stark have come together to reflect this complex and historical moment by delivering a conscious pop/hip-hop song about two fictional parents welcoming their new baby with depth, swag and jubilee. Their musical genius continues to inspire audiences of all ages with thoughtful lyrics, a catchy hook and rich melodic harmonies.
“Isn’t it time we as artists leverage our platforms or influence to inspire hope rather than despair?” said Aaron. “Artists have an unspoken responsibility to provide soundtracks for the lives of our fans. Often, the commercial demand for a single sound and story makes for negative or inappropriate lyrical content, especially for family audiences. Perhaps we can provide more empowering soundtracks for our newborns, parents and grandparents rather than pure shock value entertainment?”
Converging with this song release, Aaron is releasing his first NFT in a series and coming out for a COP 26 global climate-art competition. A 3-part NFt adapts the original line drawings of his new book in partnership with renowned Brazilian VFX artists. The NFT is part of a larger release calendar for the author-artist, most notably the forthcoming book he wrote for his daughter every day of her first year: “Welcome To Earth: Love Letters to My Child & Practices for Families” all being rolled out over the fall/winter of 2021-22. The book is a mix of 365 letters written to his daughter followed by a fun activity that helps parents connect to their inner wisdom throughout their lifelong family journey. The music and videos include conscious-danceable music, oral storytelling, and mindful activities derived from the pages of his acclaimed 400-plus page book.
Celebrity academic-activist, Dr. Cornel West, shares about Aaron’s work: “Ableman is the real deal … his creative genius and heartfelt wonder for life transport a diverse but mainstream audience into the profound world of the living imagination.”
This “living imagination” – and the practical tools tethered to it inside Welcome To Earth – can particularly help transform depression, angst, or violence for modern families, who must constantly rise to the challenges of our teetering world. Parents, for example, are tasked with this daily practice of social-emotional health and ecological choices for a new generation of global citizens.
Marya Stark also adds: “Children are the way of the future. Celebrating their existence and potential is part of the solution for generating a vision of life here on earth that will be healthy for generations to come. This song honors the blessings that children bring to the world, to their families, and to all of life.” Learn more about Aaron Ableman @ official website and Marya Stark @ official website.
