Building a business is a daunting task, especially if it is done from scratch. There are so many what-ifs lurking at the backs of young entrepreneurs’ minds when they are at the early stages of launching their business. What if it fails? What if it was not what consumers are actually looking for? What if all the hard-earned money was lost?
Still, without taking the risk, one would never know how it could turn out. Taking it one step further, moving to an entirely new city to start a new business on your own is a challenge that not many are willing to take. Steven Jordan is one such person who took the risk and currently reaps the benefits. CEO of Elite Cabinet Coatings, LLC, his company is now worth an undisclosed seven figures.
Steven was not always as successful as an entrepreneur. Still, his great advantage is that he learned from his past mistakes and grew from them, building the knowledge he now uses in running Elite Cabinet Coatings.
When he first entered the world of entrepreneurship, it was in doing odd jobs like mowing lawns and pressure washing. He built his first business after college with a partner, and it was a great learning opportunity for both of them. It was an insurance business, and the weaknesses he identified when he and his partner parted ways were marketing and advertising. He decided to turn that weakness into a strength.
He knew that he would eventually start a business again. Still, he had no idea about what that business was going to be. During his research phase, he learned about cabinet refinishing in the cabinet industry from a highschool friend. While not knowing how it would impact his life, he figured it was interesting enough to give a shot while searching for his next business venture.
After working with Espresso Finishes in Tampa, Florida, for a year, he recognized the vast opportunities cabinet refinishing has as a business. He committed to never compete with Espresso and moved to Orlando to start his own operation.
Acknowledging the opportunities there are in cabinet refinishing, he later reapproached Espresso Finishes and acquired 100% equity. Now he services Central Florida as well. The opportunity for growth is not something he wants to keep to himself, so he created the Cabinet Startup, LLC, to be able to help the growth of other small businesses. With the philosophy of contributing to a world where the more he gives, the more he receives, Steven now focuses on guiding other entrepreneurs to improve their businesses as well.
Working with small business owners in the specialty trade and home services industry, Steven may be described as either an investor or a consultant. To this day, he has helped build and actively owns or manages a total of 36 different Cabinet Refinishing companies around the country and uses his experience in day-to-day management to guide other small business owners to achieve the same success he has.
