Emilio Bernot is a notorious social media star who knows and has what it takes to become relevant in the huge pool of enthusiastic personalities in the digital age.
Emilio has over 910,000 followers on TikTok, a platform for short mobile videos that aim to present creativity, knowledge, and moments from content makers worldwide. Through his dedication, consistency, and good content, Emilio garnered more than 29 million views on the platform. On top of that, he also has thousands of followers on his other social media avenues.
The digital content maker discovered his passion for media creation first through photography. At 15 years old, Emilio’s mother enrolled him in a photography class in a school called Fusion Academy. A couple of weeks into the class, he realized that he loves being behind the camera. “I loved how you can make a bright place look dark and mysterious,” Emilio said. That same year, his friend acquired a camera and convinced him to do photoshoots for local influencers.
Emilio and his friend tried their luck and scored clients in their locality. Among their clients was the rapper named Scotty Mcthottie. During the project, the client expressed that he wanted a video instead of doing a photo shoot. Even though he did not have much experience in directing and putting together a video, Emilio took the challenge. He ended up loving the process and managed to produce quality output.
Ever since then, Emilio nurtured his passion for making videos. He searched for an appropriate platform for his craft. At first, Emilio created short skits and posted them on Instagram. But that wasn’t much of a success because he only had a few followers on his account. To spice things up, Emilio started making “really stupid videos” in public places such as Popeyes, McDonald’s, and Walmart.
In 2019, Emilio came across TikTok and realized that he didn’t need many followers to get a lot of views. “You don’t need followers to get views. You just have to post good content, which is what I started doing,” Emilio said. He spends hours each day thinking about content ideas that his audience would want to watch. Emilio is strategic when it comes to the videos that he puts out. The director makes sure that they are entertaining and appealing at the same time.
In the future, Emilio wants to take his brand to the next level by directing music videos and short advertisements for big brands. He wants to improve his talent in being a director. “I feel like I’m pretty creative and making videos really lets me use my creativity to the fullest,” Emilio said. Furthermore, the director expressed that he gets excited whenever he is at the post-editing process, a stage where he can truly express himself as an artist. Emilio respects what his clients want and follows their requests to a tee to build a relationship with them. “When an artist wants me to make him a video, he is my boss,” the director said.
One of the icons that inspire Emilio every day is Elon Musk, CEO and founder of several tech companies such as Tesla and SpaceX. “I think it’s awesome how he had nothing as a kid living in Africa and had a dream to make civilian space travel a thing, which is obviously a huge goal,” said Emilio. The director learned from his idol that he could do anything he puts his mind to.
