Tish Cyrus, 54, has filed for divorce from 60-year-old country star Billy Ray Cyrus after 28 years of marriage due to “irreconcilable difference,” as stated in legal documents obtained by CNN on Monday.
She filed last week in Williamson County, Tennessee.
Legal documents state that the couple, who married in 1993, have not lived together in more than two years.
They are the parents of five adult children: sons Trace (33) and Braison (27), and daughters Brandi (34), Miley (29), and Noah (22).
This was not the first divorce filing for the two. Billy Ray Cyrus had filed for divorce in 2010, and Tish Cyrus filed again in 2013, but the couple reconciled during both times.
A representative for Billy Ray Cyrus declined to comment about the divorce filing.
During the 2013 divorce filing, Billy Ray Cyrus provided Us Weekly with a statement saying that he and his wife “both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together.”
“We both went into couples therapy something we haven’t done in 22 years of being together, and its brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways,” the statement said at the time. “Tish also said marriage can be really hard especially after 22 years of being in entertainment. We’ve had rough times but we both realized we didn’t want to be another statistic and wanted to make it work.”
