The digital asset industry and cryptocurrency, in particular, has made a difference in the way individuals and ventures approach economic activities. Now, not only is there another alternative to the host of payment options available, but there’s also a vast improvement in the ease with which entrepreneurs and organizations can transact across borders. In the years to come, crypto is highly expected to serve as a staple feature of the financial landscape, an assumption that is rooted in its growing prominence. Among the forms of digital assets that are set to gain a solid foothold in the economic realm are NFTs. While they were already popular in recent years, non-fungible tokens gained considerable global attention this year, with celebrities, creatives, and other prolific names launching their own signature NFTs. Tropical Turtles, a collection of 1,500 randomly generated tokens, is currently in the spotlight for its distinctive design and mission.
This highly anticipated new participant to the Ethereum blockchain launched on September 28. In the weeks since its release, it has managed to gain the attention of countless NFT enthusiasts as each Tropical Turtle is made of a unique body, hat, face, and outfit. Revealed instantly after minting, the adorable items are available on the trading platform Open Sea and can be bought for 0.035 ETH.
At the helm of the production of the Tropical Turtles are go-getters who believe in the value of non-fungible tokens and their role in promoting art and nurturing the creative scene. Eday, the artist who conceptualized the look of the avatars, joined forces with Ghost and Loya to introduce the 1,500 turtles to the public.
Right now, almost 800 owners boast a Tropical Turtle, and it’s not a surprise why so many of these avatars have found a home. Not only are they aesthetically appealing, but the advocacy behind this particular collection has also attracted the attention of like-minded individuals hoping to contribute to a future where marine life is preserved and protected.
The team behind the Tropical Turtles has already donated $10,000 to the Turtle Conservancy, a 5013 organization dedicated to protecting threatened turtles and tortoises and their habitats worldwide. Its commitment to helping change drivers like the Turtle Conservancy is in recognition of the disturbing reality that turtles are among the most at-risk groups of animals on the planet, with more than half of their 300+ species being threatened with extinction. Through its recent and upcoming donations, the strategic minds behind the Tropical Turtles aim to lend a hand to ongoing conservation efforts and promote awareness among NFT enthusiasts, as well.
Religiously adhering to its planned roadmap, the Tropical Turtles has more up its sleeves. Once all 1,500 avatars are owned, the team will donate 10 ETH to the Sea Turtle Conservancy. It is also set to launch Tropical Otters in the coming months, all of which are free to mint for Tropical Turtles holders.
