The HUI AN PU POWER SUPPLY PLACE, under the STATE GRID YANCHI ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY COMPANY, was established in December 2000. It manages an area of 1,395.4 square kilometers, with 116 dedicated transformer users and 7,612 residential and general commercial users. The supply place has two field teams and one office team.
Yanchi County in Ningxia Province boasts abundant solar resources, with annual sunshine hours reaching 2,867.9 hours and a sunshine percentage of about 67.7%. The area is highly suitable for photovoltaic projects due to its high altitude, low incidence of rainy weather, long sunshine duration, high radiation intensity, and excellent atmospheric transparency.
STATE GRID YANCHI ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY COMPANY has expanded its vision and, in line with the current energy usage of the HUI AN PU POWER SUPPLY PLACE, implemented a clean energy transformation to meet clean energy development requirements. By utilizing rooftop distributed photovoltaic technology to harness green electricity, and integrating photovoltaic power generation, all-electric heating, all-electric kitchens, and charging piles, the facility replaces high-pollution, high-energy-consuming equipment with advanced, energy-efficient electrical appliances, thus achieving energy substitution. The completed “Zero-Carbon” power supply place will help address issues such as high energy consumption, high pollution, poor heating performance, and unstable winter temperatures of the heating equipment, as well as solve problems related to coal storage occupying space and polluting the internal environment, which significantly affects the facility’s appearance.
The creation of the “Zero-Carbon” power supply place includes a solar energy supply subsystem, a smart heating subsystem, and a green electricity kitchen subsystem. Upgrading the kitchen layout eliminates safety hazards associated with high-pollution energy use in the kitchen, making energy use safer, more precise, and more intelligent.
The demonstration construction of the “Zero-Carbon” power supply place combines photovoltaic power generation with clean energy use, operating on a “self-use, surplus electricity fed to the grid” model. The overall construction is divided into four subsystems:
1. Solar Energy Supply Subsystem: A distributed photovoltaic power station is built on the 429-square-meter rooftop of the facility, including 56.7 kW of photovoltaic power generation equipment and ancillary facilities, reducing carbon emissions. The expected annual power generation is about 80,000 kWh, with an estimated carbon reduction of 30 tons.
2. Smart Heating Subsystem: Covering an area of about 670 square meters, this subsystem includes an 80 kW water heat storage electric boiler heating system and ancillary facilities, replacing the old high-energy-consuming heating equipment to meet the heating needs of employees. It completely eliminates the shortcomings of the old heating system, such as poor performance, high energy consumption, and outdated equipment, and is expected to save 70,000 kWh of electricity annually.
3. Green Electricity Kitchen Subsystem: This subsystem includes a complete set of green electricity kitchen equipment using low-energy clean kitchen appliances, reducing atmospheric pollution caused by open flame heating, while enhancing safety and reducing energy consumption. It is expected to save 2 tons of coal annually.
4. Charging Pile Subsystem: Featuring a 60 kW charging pile, local residents can use green energy to charge their new energy vehicles, achieving low-carbon and green travel. The estimated annual charging capacity is over 30,000 kWh.(Ma Shaobin, Zheng Pengzhu)
