Social media is unquestionably one of the top-most influential platforms in the modern world. It’s a convenient and effective approach to sharing your thoughts with a diverse audience worldwide. Notable personalities also created brands as influencers by leveraging the power of social media to advance their beliefs, concepts, and ideologies. Though presumed one of the super socially sensitive topics, religion has become a widely shared and discussed topic on social media. Evangelists such as David Diga Hernandez is one of the personalities vocally leading a spiritual awakening among upcoming generations via technology.
David Diga Hernandez is an evangelist and one of the most well-known Christian leaders on YouTube. He is a key figure for the charismatic Christian movement among Gen Z and millennials widely recognized for practicing healing the sick and casting out demons, things considered dated or taboo, through modern means like social media. David’s influence has reached millions of Gen Z and millennials as his approach does not fit into any church denomination category. He is also a skilled orator with a unique communication style, has exceptional writing skills, and authored three bestselling books.
According to Hernandez, culture is becoming increasingly anti-Christian, which is a major cause for alarm. This creates the need to constantly adjust the messaging method without compromising the message itself. Therefore, migrating to the digital space has proved essential as that’s the means of interaction for upcoming generations. David believes that the key is to package the Gospel in a more understandable and consumable structure to suit the target audience while also maintaining the Gospel’s originality and authenticity. “We stick with the Gospel’s message as it has been preached for thousands of years,” David says.
The COVID pandemic, in particular, greatly influenced the world toward embracing the digital space. But as a public ministry, David’s major hurdle was navigating COVID and continuing to host meetings. It took him a while, but his enthusiasm and passion saw him overcome this and many other hurdles on his path to success.
Today, Hernandez wants others to understand that the Gospel still works regardless of the medium you borrow. Also, you do not need to alter the message to make it more favorable to modern culture because doing so actually strips it of its power. Instead, maintain the Gospel, but embrace technology to reach the target audience. Remember, the Gospel as it works just fine. “If you believe you have the truth, you can’t compromise your message,” David adds.
An ambitious evangelist, David aspires to continue growing rapidly and expand his audience. His target is to reach more people and spread the Gospel. David also hopes to preach the same message but on a much larger scale. He is also building his platforms and as much of his infrastructure as possible to help combat what he sees as big tech censorship. This includes the $2 million production facility in Austin, TX, he just invested in, which will soon become operational.
