Harrisburg, PA— Match One Medical was honored with the inaugural “Friends of the Society” award at the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 10, 2024. The award was presented by Dr. Vincent Battista, the 2024 President of the Society, in recognition of Match One Medical’s contributions to the orthopedic community. The CEO and co-founder, Chaz Jannuzi, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The “Friends of the Society” award recognizes organizations that have impacted the orthopedic field through support, partnership, and advancing the Society’s mission. Match One Medical’s steadfast dedication to the orthopedic community earned them this prestigious honor. The company has been a loyal participant in the Society’s scientific meetings since its founding in 2014, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the field.

Presentation by Dr. Vincent Battista

“It is my honor as the 2024 President of the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society to present the inaugural ‘Friends of the Society’ award to Match One Medical. This award recognizes those rare exhibitors who have become true impact players in our society’s work. Match One Medical is that rare example. Based in Beaver Falls, Match One has been a steadfast participant in our scientific meetings since its founding in 2014. Chaz Jannuzi and Joe Herrmann have been fixtures in our meetings for years, and their faith in our Society’s mission has been evident from the beginning. In their first year, they had just six thousand dollars in the bank and no employees, so they made the bold decision to spend half of their capital to exhibit at our Society. Now, Match One has helped patients across 23 states and serves nearly 30,000 patients. Their belief in our Society’s mission has been a key to their success, and we are deeply grateful for their support of our advocacy efforts.”

Dr. Battista further highlighted Match One Medical’s contributions, noting their exceptional support of the Society’s grand rounds initiative:

“Unlike any other exhibitor, Chaz personally attended one of our Pittsburgh Opioid education events, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to our educational mission. His friendly face was a welcome surprise, and we are grateful for his support. We hope that all PA Ortho exhibitors will meet the Match One standard. We are very pleased and proud to present you with the ‘Friends of the Society’ award.”

Acceptance Speech by Chaz Jannuzi, CEO and Co-founder of Match One Medical

“As Dr. Battista mentioned, we started our journey by deciding to support the PA Ortho Society, but I see it more as a partnership. Together, we’ve shared a passion for helping patients recover from surgery faster without the need for opioids. The PA Ortho Society, along with groups like the Rothman Opioid Foundation, the American Foundation for Opioid Alternatives, and Match One Medical, have paved the way for progress in this area nationwide. Our growth over the past decade has allowed us to help patients in 23 states and support other state societies and organizations like PA Ortho. I can definitively say that this Society and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are ahead of other regions in educating their members on the risks associated with opioids and promoting opioid-free surgical recovery.”

Jannuzi also emphasized the need for continued progress:

“That being said, progress is not cheap. But do you know what is cheap? The status quo is cheap, and as a group, we need to press for progress within the insurance marketplace to allow for scientific research and insurance coverage for new and advanced therapies. We have advocates in this room, like Jonathan Bigley of the Pa Ortho PAC and the PA Orthopedic Society, who are committed to advancing medicine. I want to use my five minutes in the spotlight to urge all of you to join me in supporting the PA Ortho PAC.”

He concluded with a special message of gratitude:

“In closing, I’d like to give a special thanks to my favorite person in the room, Dr. Suzette Song. Along with Jonathan, she has been a constant contributor to the vision of this Society over the past decade. She’s a die-hard Penn State fan, a huge supporter, and an advocate for Match One Medical’s mission of opioid-free recovery. Thank you, PA Ortho, and thank you, Dr. Battista. It’s an honor and a privilege to be here. Thank you.”

Match One Medical is a leading provider of specialized medical services dedicated to enhancing patient care, speeding surgical recovery, advancing modalities to limit the need for opioids, and strengthening the orthopedic community through innovation and partnership.
