About Johnny Depp?

Johnny Depp rose to fame in the 1980s playing Edward James Olmos’ son on Miami Vice. He reprised the role 16 years later with a much darker tale and gained respect for this understated performance. Since the turn of that film, he has had a career spanning nearly 40 years playing various roles of crime fighters and criminals alike. His 30 years as an actor are enough to fill a lifetime, yet his story only adds to the legend. He has been married to makeup artist Amber Heard since 2012 and they have a daughter, Lily-Rose Depp.

On July 25th 2009, Johnny Depp was arrested for grand theft of art from his ex-managers office. Since then he has appeared in various courtrooms across the country for charges that range from petty theft to assault with a deadly weapon.

Johnny Depp’s family was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. His father was a civil engineer who encouraged Depp to follow him into the field. In high school, Depp played baseball and basketball on the school teams and got along well with his peers.  During this time he developed an interest in acting and started going to auditions when he was 18 years old. However, despite good reviews from critics, it didn’t make any money and was soon forgotten about. This would not stop Johnny Depp from continuing on with his acting career. He starred in no less than three films that were released in 1990; one of them was a box office smash that would put him on the map as an actor.

His film “Cry-Baby” was released in 1990 to mixed reviews from critics, it did however become a huge critical and financial success. The film features Depp playing a “son of the mob” named, Buddy Holly. This role would start his reputation for playing morally ambiguous characters that would challenge audiences, but this character would also make him famous.
