Kafune Amor Hair Care: Helping Women Feel Beautiful Again

Many Black women experience problems with thinning hair and even total hair loss. When this happens, it may be a crippling blow to their confidence and sense of self. Fortunately, Kanufe Amor Hair Care understands what these women are going through. As such, this provides top-notch products and wigs to help women feel like their best selves once more.

The founder of Amor Hair Care, Shemika Jackson, experienced hair loss in her late 20s. As a woman who felt that her beautiful hair was a large part of her identity, this experience deeply saddened her. She tried reversing the hair loss with medicated shampoos and injections from her dermatologist. But with her alopecia diagnosis, these solutions fell short. “I was devastated! My hair was my crown, and losing it felt like losing a part of me,” Shemika recalled.

But this loss opened up an opportunity for Shemika to reignite her passion and interest in hair care and styling. Growing up, she was exposed to different hairstyling techniques as her mother went to cosmetology school. She said, “Mom would bring home mannequins and practice styling them and coloring their hair. I would watch her as she practiced. And when she was done, I would take them and style them my way, experimenting with the different looks I had imagined.”

In the aftermath of her alopecia diagnosis, Shemika started to do more research on wigs. “I found that customizing units was a great way to incorporate them into my hair. And that’s how it started.” Using her experience and knowledge, Shemika began providing wigs for her clients. “As I was exploring this solution, I didn’t just learn about wigs. I also learned how to help women get their confidence back!” she shared. Her story of hair loss is a common one, and she was eager to learn how she could help fellow women feel better about themselves after experiencing hair loss.

Amor Hair Care provides lace wigs with different types as well as products. Since Shemika established Amor Hair Care, she has created hundreds of custom units for her clients. She also created a range of products to help women put on lace front wigs hassle-free. “We have a four-step system,” she explained, “Protect, Conceal, Hold, and Release. Protecting edges is the first step. Then we go in with products and techniques to conceal the lace. Of course, we also need something to hold the wig in place. We have ones that are good for one day or stronger adhesives to keep a wig in place for up to three weeks. And finally, we have products that help women release their wigs without damaging their natural hair.”

Amor Hair Care was born out of a painful experience. But from pain comes strength and remembering what it feels like to be confidently beautiful. Shemika Jackson said, “I wanted women to know that you don’t have to look anywhere or to anyone to feel good or feel beautiful. All you have to do is look at what’s beautiful within and let it flow out.”
