Running a business can feel much like that tightrope walk. Entrepreneurs are constantly juggling tasks, chasing deadlines, and striving for success. But just like the acrobat needs balance to stay upright, finding a healthy equilibrium between work and personal lives is crucial for holistic well-being and success.
Fortunately, there are several ways to achieve that balance, like setting boundaries between work and personal life or doing something one’s passionate about now and then.
Here’s how Madrid-based Mozambican entrepreneur Manisha Pratapsinh does it:
Prioritize what matters
Being an entrepreneur is often demanding. Business-related decisions require time, effort, and careful planning. But sometimes it can be too much.
As an entrepreneur, Manisha does her best to set her priorities straight so she can enjoy what life has to offer while ensuring that she can make a sound choice regarding her private bus company.
She admits that it can be difficult sometimes, but the challenge is all part of it. Embracing the good and the bad allows her to have a holistic experience she can learn from and eventually create a timeline that caters to her schedule.
“I won’t say it’s easy because it’s not. But I always prioritize God and my family, and then my business. I do my best to balance everything, but it’s not always easy. Life is made of sacrifices,” she said.
Find a supportive community
When life gets overwhelming, having someone to listen to one’s woes and concerns can be relieving. The same can apply to running a business. Entrepreneurs have to face challenges in their careers, and sometimes, having someone to share in the mental load can help them come to the necessary conclusions they need.
For Manisha, the struggle lies with continuously proving herself in a male-dominated industry like Mozambique’s transportation sector.
“The major difficulty I had and still face is always having to prove that we are capable of making significant decisions, considering that women are considered the weaker sex,” Manisha shared.
“For a long time, I hid my business side out of fear of what people might say and judge me since it’s an area dominated by men. Until circumstances in life led me to strong women who encouraged me to talk more about Manisha, the businesswoman,” the Mozambican entrepreneur said.
Seeing the benefits of having a community of women who support each other, she empowers other women to chase their dreams while providing them the safe space they need to achieve their goals.
Align with your purpose
Getting burned out from running a business can be typical when people lose sight of the reason behind why they started. But as a true advocate of diversity and inclusivity, Manisha made it her life goal to spread the message that one’s origin, ethnicity, or physical appearance should never be an obstacle to success.
Manisha’s success can be attributed to a lot of things. But there’s no denying that her management of herself as a private individual and as an entrepreneur plays a crucial role in helping her build her company while making a difference in Mozambique’s transportation industry.
Manisha’s journey emphasizes the importance of aligning with one’s purpose. For her, it’s not just about running a successful business; it’s about making a meaningful impact in her community and beyond. By staying true to her values of diversity and inclusivity, she not only finds fulfillment in her work but also inspires others to do the same. Whether it’s through providing employment opportunities or challenging stereotypes, Manisha strives to create positive change in the world around her.
She recognizes the significance of self-management in achieving both personal and professional goals. By maintaining a healthy balance between her roles as an individual and an entrepreneur, Manisha ensures that she remains resilient in the face of challenges.
