After weeks of anticipation, the moment has finally arrived: the Academy has revealed its annual list of Oscar nominations.
The Oscar 2022 nominations were announced Tuesday morning in a livestream hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan. Following another peculiarly lengthy awards race, it finally came around with “The Power of the Dog” by Jane Campion taking the lead with 12 nominations.
The Oscar nominations also held prominent nominees, including “Belfast,” “Dune,” Will Smith of “King Richard,” Nicole Kidman of “Being the Ricardos,” Benedict Cumberbatch of “The Power of the Dog,” all leading to the 94th Academy Awards ceremony at the last week of March.
Once considered to be among the prominent candidates for Best Actress, “Spencer” heroine Kristen Stewart’s performance as Princess Diana failed to hold nominations from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and, shockingly, the British Academy of Film & Television Arts, prior to ultimately securing the Academy’s listing.
In a massive bombshell, although “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” star Jessica Chastain and “The Lost Daughter” star Olivia Colman secured nominations in the Oscars, Lady Gaga (“House of Gucci”), the only actor in the season to secure a nomination at the BAFTA Awards, Critics Choice Awards, SAG, and the Golden Globes, was not nominated by the Academy. “Parallel Mothers” star Penélope Cruz prospectively secured the fifth slot in the category instead.
Winners will be revealed on Sunday, March 27, throughout ABD’s air of the 94th Academy Awards. Here is the full list below:
