A promising hip-hop artist from Queens, New York, is on the rise and he is one very gifted rapper and songwriter who comes from a family deeply in love with music. Mercvry leverages his unique music skills and combines them with his passion to perform and entertain people to create life-changing songs that will establish him as a serious and respectable artist. Strongly influenced by his love for hip-hop, rap, trap, and R&B, his artistry is a unique combination of these genres; and music fans are sure to experience something new by listening to his songs. He attributes who he is now to the influence of his family who imparted to him a deep appreciation for music.
Mercvry’s grandmother used to tour overseas, singing Gospel music. Together with her daughters, including Mercvry’s own mother, she would sing in the church choir on Sundays. His uncle went viral for singing in a Walmart store and soon ended up performing an opening act for Common. As a family, they used to sing musicals. They are also great fans of the late Michael Jackson, Usher, 50 Cent, and Chris Brown, among others.
“I can sing but I can also rap. I have an ear for music even though music is subjective, I tend to know what song is really gonna grab the audience. I have a little bit of engineering skills as well,” Mercvry shared.
Thanks to his long-time friend RTC, Mercvry has been getting all the help and encouragement he needs to move forward with his music career. RTC knows how hard he works and how much he values the quality of his music. He was also responsible for teaching Mercvry some of the techniques he uses in his songs today. Together, they created the EP Mercvry’s Redstone from scratch.
“I really love music. I love making it, hearing it, singing it and dancing to it. I honestly don’t know what I would do without it. I don’t know what anyone would do without it. I guess what I’m trying to say is, that I won’t get tired of it. I plan to be on it for the long run. I want to share music for as long as I can.”
Inspiration can come in many forms, but Mercvry’s main motivation to create his personal brand as a music artist is to create beautiful collaborations with other artists. For him, creating a team of like-minded individuals is close to nurturing a family setting, and this is how he intends to treat everyone who commits to working closely with him in the future. Secondary to this is his desire to impact the lives of people through his songs—inspire them, give them hope, and entertain them at the same time.
The future is promised to no one, but Mercvry is more than willing to hustle to provide a comfortable future for his mother. He may be a long way from being able to provide that, but his determination remains steadfast up to this day. In the next few years, he aspires to become a household name in the music industry. People will talk about his story, his music, his passion, and how he wants to impact the world with his artistry. “I plan to make timeless music that can resonate with all forms of life. I want to perform at major stages and give people some of the best experiences ever. I want people to come to my shows not just to watch the show but have a whole day full of great memories,” Mercvry shared.
At the end of the day, Mercvry admits that he is no different from everyone else dreaming of having a better life while living out their purposes and greatest passions. He only aspires to encourage others to boldly pursue their dreams and always be grateful for their innate gifts, no matter how unique or uncommon they may seem to some people.
