Entertainment is an integral part of the things that keep Americans engaged during the holidays. There is no better way to entertain a populace that has survived a challenging year than bringing one of the most loved American classics, The Waltons’ Homecoming, back for them to see. Kathy Ireland, founder and CEO of kathy ireland® Worldwide is sponsoring the airing of The Waltons’ Homecoming on The CW during the holiday season.
The Waltons’ Homecoming, a remake of the 50-year-old The Homecoming: A Christmas Story is being sole-sponsored by Kathy Ireland and her brand, kathy ireland® Worldwide. The titular family film is what many describe as the perfect gift anyone can offer the American people, and Ms. Ireland is glad to be at the forefront of that presentation. The executive producer for the film is Emmy Award winner Sam Haskell, the Chair and President of Magnolia Hill Productions at Warner Bros. After the film aired on The CW on November 28, an encore will show on December 11.
Kathy Ireland has expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to present the American classic that speaks to the purest of values: faith, love, family and inclusivity. Describing the motivation behind the sponsorship, Kathy Ireland said, “It has been a challenging year and everyone is trying to find balance. Not enough programming in the world today encourages hope and we thought we could bring The Waltons’ Homecoming to the people as a gift to send them some feel-good jolts this holiday season.”
“We are also proud to work with the talented and accomplished Sam Haskell whose work in television is iconic and legendary. To know Sam, is to trust him and love him. When we began dreaming of what gift we could give to virtually every American family this year, this film became our powerful choice,” Kathy added.
The Waltons’ Homecoming features actors like Bellamy Young, Logan Shroyer, Ben Lawson with the original John Boy, Richard Thomas, doing the narration. Seven-time Grammy Award winners Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. created the music for the film alongside a stirring rendition of “Silent Night” released by Watertower Music on Monday, November 29. They also play the roles of Sister Harriett and Brother William in the film.
Kathy Ireland already partnered with McCoo and Davis on their most recent album release, Blackbird: Lennon-McCartney Icons which has earned the duo a spot on the Billboard charts 35 years after they last appeared in the charts.
Kathy’s optimism and excitement about the film stem from her sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported the kathy ireland® Worldwide brand and made it the 15th most successful licensed brand in American history. Her love for charity organizations and the generous support she extends to cancer foundations are part of why she felt drawn towards doing something for American families.Learn more about Kathy Ireland’s brand on the official website.
