BBC iPlayer contains various trending shows and movies which gathered a vast streaming audience worldwide. Their library contains various shows of unique and diverse genres.

Some of these shows are watched the most in the month of August based on either their release date or the re-emerging of their popularity as the show is renewed for another season.

That being said, we will share with you some of the most trending shows in this blog which you can watch on BBC iPlayer in New Zealand and many other countries. So, without any further ado, let’s see what these shows are.

1. Heartstopper

In a world where it is a tough choice to stay true to yourself, this movie highlights how important it is to offer support to anyone around you who needs it based on them revealing their true sexual identity.

When Charlie comes out to his mother, she becomes a breath of fresh air by offering him her full support so that at least his home becomes a safe haven for him.

However, regardless of his sexual orientation, high school becomes just as challenging for him, which is what the show focuses a lot on.

2. Celebrity MasterChef

As foodies, it is one of our most favourite culinary shows. The plot is simple; a bunch of celebrities compete against each other to see who cooks the best and takes home the MasterChef title.

The show contains various episodes which cover different rounds of challenges for the contestants, each more difficult than the other to eliminate the ones who are not good enough to be qualified for the final round.

If you love food and enjoy watching some competition between them, we strongly suggest you watch Celebrity MasterChef at least once.

3. Fleabag

Fleabag is a great show to watch if you are dealing with any sort of grief, anger, or trauma. It is a show which focuses on the plot of a grief-stricken woman who explores her life in London amidst the tragedy she went through not very long ago.

Her trauma makes her immune to human connections, which makes her push away anyone who tries to heal her.

She is known to the people as Fleabag, someone who doesn’t spare anyone who crosses her path and tries to heal on her own. This movie could be relatable to many of you, so make sure that you try to watch it once.

4. What We Do in The Shadows

If you are someone who is intrigued by vampires and dark themes, this show is for you. This show covers the story of three Vampires, Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja, who have been living for more than 10 years in Staten Island.

The shows cover a whole aspect of their lives as they navigate through modern society and live among them while maintaining interactions with other supernatural beings who live near them.

This show is bound to give you the creeps, but if you enjoy that, we strongly encourage you to stream this one as soon as you can!

5. The Sixth Commandment

This is one of the most famous criminal cases which centred between a teacher and a student. This uncovered many chilling truths about the duo and highlighted a specific inappropriate behaviour between the two of them.

The complexity of this case had many people scratch their heads, and it took a long time for this case to be resolved finally. We would not like to spoil this show for you any further, so make sure that you go watch it yourself and let us know what you think!

6. The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

When a nine-year-old girl, Alice, sees a fire break out in her home, killing both her parents brutally, her grandmother takes her into care. However, things don’t go for her as smoothly as she expected because the flower farm her grandmother lives in is also a centre for troubled women.

As time passes, Alice slowly goes on to uncover many secrets in her family, which continue to haunt her even in adulthood.

It is not a show for the faint-hearted, so if you can handle the dark themes and suspense that come with it, we invite you to watch it and enjoy the thick storyline fit for people with a strong gut and a twisted mind.

Wrapping Up

We hope the shows we shared with you gathered your interest. We purposefully collected the shows based on various genres so you can select the one which intrigues you the most.
