Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts Helping Women Learn Essential Self Defense Strategies Through Its Outstanding Programs

There is no denying that even in these modern and progressive times, women still experience harassment on a daily basis. Because of this bitter reality, many have opted to find means to help defend themselves from dangerous situations. Cognizant of this, Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts has created stellar programs that focus on helping women have a fighting chance.

At the helm of the remarkable enterprise is head coach Terry Gold. Despite having a thriving career as a Wall Street broker, he decided to pursue his passion for martial arts. So in 2008, he opened Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts, the first MMA academy in the area. Its goal is to become the number one training ground for MMA in Brooklyn and, soon enough, the country.

What makes the facility so unique is its fantastic dedication to the community’s various sectors, most especially its female population. Even though the MMA scene is dominated by men, Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts understands that women are just as capable of becoming mixed martial arts experts.

It has an impressive women’s only program for kickboxing and conditioning, which are handled by highly competent professional coaches and trainers. The sessions are available both mornings and evenings.

In addition to championing the needs of women, Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts also has an excellent program for kids, which helps instill discipline and teaches them how to defend themselves. There are classes for children of all age groups, such as the kid’s fitness program, junior warriors program, and teen MMA program.

Aside from that, these programs do not require participants to have any experience or prior knowledge in martial arts. This is a testament to the academy’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity. When asked what type of students he was looking for, Terry Gold profoundly answered, “Anyone looking to better their lives through fitness and martial arts. Martial arts is a lifestyle, not a hobby, and it can be life-changing. Anyone looking to get in great shape or learn how to defend themselves.”

Because of this outstanding culture of diversity and inclusivity, many are encouraged to learn and practice the exciting sport. As the founder wisely shared, “You don’t need to be great to start, but you need to start to be great!”

On top of its extraordinary programs and curriculum, what makes the academy stand out is its unrivaled network. It often invites UFC legends and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners to share their knowledge with the students. Some of the most notable personalities who have participated in these seminars include UFC superstars Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, Jake Shields, Al Iaquinta, Chris Weidman, and Luke Rockhold, as well as BJJ black belts like Kyra Gracie, Tom Deblass, Danielle Kelly, and Komil Boymurodov.

As Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts continues its advocacy of teaching people essential defense skills, Terry Gold hopes to make a lasting impact on the lives of women and children students. Moving forward, the entrepreneur has big plans, including expanding the academy to other states such as Florida.
