Boss Startup Science Helping Startups Stay Ahead of the Curve

There is no cookie-cutter approach to running a successful startup, because even the smartest ideas that are capable of solving societal problems have failed while the so-called unremarkable ideas have gone on to scale and become billion-dollar companies. Gregory Shepard, in his over 20 years of experience in the business space, came to the conclusion that the secret to every successful startup pre-launch and post-launch lies in the founders’ ability to navigate and avoid certain pitfalls. As a way of giving back to the business space and upcoming entrepreneurs, he co-founded Boss Startup Science, a business learning center.

Greg is a twenty-year startup veteran, author, radio host, and serial entrepreneur whose experience and expertise cuts across every aspect of entrepreneurship and running a successful business. In a career spanning two decades, Greg has to his name 12 liquidity events, most notable among them being part of a $925M transaction that won 4 PE awards for transactions between $250M-$1B. He is an author for ForbesBooks and has written over 100 articles published across 25 national and international publications. He is a TEDx and keynote speaker who has spoken in universities and conferences globally. Greg currently hosts a Forbes radio show and has featured as a guest on numerous podcasts, radio, and TV shows. He is also the founder of BOSS Capital Partners, a global syndicate for investing in tech startups worldwide.

Recently, Greg authored Silver Master, a research paper that sheds light on what startup companies in the world are doing wrong and the factors that lead to a 90% failure rate. Through BOSS Startup Science, he has been proving how entrepreneurs can avoid pitfalls that lead to failure and what the startup lifecycle looks like.

The research paper is the culmination of a 5-year study, in which 1,200 interviews were conducted with entrepreneurs ranging from savvy investors to various businesses  in different stages of their start-up cycles to determine their success rates and why companies fail during the infancy stage of their first two years of business. The research showed that one out of every 20 venture-backed startups will justify a breaking-even based on  their original investment.

BOSS Startup Science is founded based on Greg’s Business Operating Support System (BOSS), a methodology developed to empower entrepreneurs while increasing the chances of success for every startup. Boss Startup Science is in the business of simplifying the business process for every startup that is currently struggling or wants to stay ahead of their struggles.

The BOSS Startup Science continues to prove that the major problem startups face today is not implementation problems or the lack of brilliant ideas that could translate into success. Instead, Greg states, “The startup world is doing most things wrong and this is right out in front with a 90% failure rate.” And Boss Startup Science is implementing a proven method and strategy to avoid these pitfalls, therefore making it impossible to fail.

Boss Startup Science is every entrepreneur and founders’ short- and long-term solution because with Greg’s 25 years experience, which has seen him emerge with 12 liquidity exit events, 4 PE awards for transaction between $250M-$1B, and numerous publications and startup ideas, it is clear that at the helm of BOSS is a successful businessman, entrepreneur, and business coach.

Five years from now, Gregory Shepard hopes to in his capacity have contributed his expertise to the business space in such a way that entrepreneurs and startup founders who come across his publications will not only become better at running their businesses but also realize early on what pitfalls to avoid to ensure their continued success.
