As RI VegFest continues to grow into one of New England’s most vibrant celebrations of plant-based living, the festival’s mission of compassion, community, and wellness is attracting sponsors who share those values. Among them is Dr. Kumara Sidhartha, a nearly 30-year medical professional with a passion for whole-food, plant-based healing, now proudly stepping in as a Silver Sponsor of RI VegFest.

For Dr. Sidhartha, the decision to sponsor wasn’t about business first. It was about belief.

“Simply put, it is the alignment of values and standards,” he shared. “I work in a healthcare management team that has very high standards of quality. I have a radar for sensing high quality and operational excellence in programs and events.”

That “radar,” he says, immediately picked up on the work of RI VegFest organizers Robin Dionne and BJ Mansuetti, who also lead Vermont VegFest. After attending several Rhode Island events and participating as a vendor in Vermont VegFest’s inaugural year, Dr. Sidhartha says he witnessed firsthand the thoughtful planning and disciplined execution that make the festival experience so unique.

“Their thoughtful, disciplined, and skilled approach to organizing these events is a joy to be part of,” he said. “This naturally results in building community and connections that celebrate compassion and healing.”

A Mission That Matches the Moment

RI VegFest promotes a lifestyle rooted in fun, food, and kindness, an approach Dr. Sidhartha says mirrors his own philosophy.

“It is a perfect match,” he said. “Joy and healing through a plant-based lifestyle are central to my values as well as those of RI VegFest.”

For him, sponsorship is less about sales and more about relationships.

“Building relationships is the main reason why I decided to sponsor the event,” he explained. “Selling my books comes secondary.”

What Festival-Goers Can Expect

Attendees stopping by Dr. Sidhartha’s table can look forward to more than just conversation; they’ll get real experiences, practical support, and delicious samples.

He’ll be offering “Ask the Doc” sessions, where guests can bring their questions and concerns about today’s often-overwhelming, conflicting nutrition advice.

“I will be available at my table for ‘Ask the Doc’ sessions if attendees have questions about the many confusing nutrition messages out there,” he said.

And yes, there will be snacks.

Visitors can sample:

  • Oatmeal-Raisin-Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Everything Bagel-flavored Roasted Chickpeas

Alongside the bites, Dr. Sidhartha will provide free recipes and opportunities to explore his wellness resources, including his book All My Secrets, which will be available for purchase.

Perhaps most exciting, he’s also offering an exclusive festival giveaway: a free pre-release e-book copy of his upcoming title:

Menstrual Health Manual: Food Rx for PMS

The e-book includes a sample one-week meal plan designed for menstrual health, giving attendees immediate tools they can apply in their everyday lives.

Wellness Rooted in Compassion, Not Judgment

With nearly three decades of medical experience focused on nutrition, Dr. Sidhartha’s approach is shaped by empathy and respect rather than pressure.

“I have learned not to judge people for what they eat,” he shared. “I value partnership over proselytizing; their autonomy over agenda-driven approaches.”

He believes true wellness begins with understanding people’s real lives—and listening first.

“Everyone is fighting a great struggle in their lives,” he said. “The first step is to understand their lives through listening and figure out how to empower and add joy.”

Why VegFest Matters More Than Ever

RI VegFest began as a sold-out inaugural event in 2020 and has since expanded into a thriving two-day festival. Dr. Sidhartha believes its growth reflects a deeper need: spaces where healing, curiosity, and community can exist together.

“Such events break the barriers for access to diversity of ideas/products/services about healing and compassionate lifestyle and build bridges into the community,” he said.

For those already plant-based, it’s a celebration. For those exploring, it’s an open door.

“It gives a safe space for like-minded as well as curious-minded people to come together to explore healthier and kinder ways of living,” he added.

The Message He Hopes People Leave With

When asked what key takeaway he hopes attendees will carry with them after visiting his table, Dr. Sidhartha’s answer was simple, but powerful:

“Change can be fun.”

And at RI VegFest, that message fits seamlessly.
