Entrepreneurship 101: Be Willing to Step Outside Your Comfort Zone and Put It All on the Line for Your Dream.

Garnett Phillip is a passionate individual trying to find a balance between her life and the hustle-and-bustle of the business world. She’s always looking for new things to do and finds inspiration in most of them. Many people want to find out Garnett’s little secrets to her entrepreneurial success. She offered some tips and advice on how to find a balance between family and a busy work life. She’s a woman of many colors. She is a black business owner, which is more than what we can say about most celebrities. According to Garnett Phillips, when you believe in yourself, you can take big risks and achieve amazing things. Let’s see more about her and how she is doing great while organizing and coordinating at the Rogers Garden by having an experience of a great bartender.

Garnett Phillip is a black woman and the co-owner and CEO of The Rogers Garden. She is an Ethiopian-Trinidadian woman, a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur. Garnett Phillip is everything that society considers to be the opposite of what a woman should be. She’s loud, confident, beautiful, and funny, yet she embodies so much more. Garnett is an inspiration to women and is a testament to the power of their narratives and the importance of owning your successes despite being a black woman in a predominately white culture. Her husband, Kevin really supports her, and she loves having a fun time with her family, even at the bar while they all work together and make memories. She is a perfect example of those who work out of their comfort zone and are willing to accept the challenges to make their dreams a reality. She is confident about her dreams and now emerging as an inspiration for others.

When Garnett Phillip decided to open her Caribbean theme bar, The Rogers Garden, she knew that it wouldn’t be an easy road. She had piot experience in the business activities but not as a CEO. Garnett believed that Brooklyn was a place where her dream of owning a business could turn into reality. She managed to do it by carving out time from her bartending duties and bringing a unique Caribbean vibe to the east side of Manhattan. She tells the story of her life journey on her website garnettphillip.com — which includes juggling between married life and her dreams while raising her family and navigating her cooking and business ambitions.

Garnett is a successful entrepreneur; she now runs multiple ventures as an owner, co-founder and CEO. She is the founder and CEO of  The Rogers Garden and a Co-Owner at Brooklyn Celebrity, aiming to help early-stage African-American entrepreneurs get their companies off the ground. The Rogers Garden is a new concept for the local dining scene, where wine aficionados and picky eaters can enjoy locally sourced ingredients and share space with new friends. Garnett shared some of her wisdom for the upcoming entrepreneurs thinking about stepping into the market. She says, “My voice has been heard at the highest level,” she added, “I think it’s important that young African-American women see that they’re really powerful.” While her ambitions have led her to try new things, Garnett has never been a seller. In fact, she learned the hard way that every investment comes with a lot of risks and that it’s okay to walk away from an opportunity if you don’t like the way things are going. Garnett believes that every opportunity is an investment. Some investments work out, some don’t, and then you move on. You have to know when to say no.

“You’re never going to get to the end goal without failing,” Garnett says. “You’re not going to get there if you think you know it all, because that’s what people do. People don’t take risks. They think their lives are perfect. It’s important to know that everybody has a journey to get to the place they need to go.” She also encourages everyone to find something that they are passionate about and pursue it in their free time, because it will help them get through their day-to-day, whatever it may be. Garnett shared a precious piece of advice for all the entrepreneurs that you won’t have as many stresses and worries when you’re involved in something you care about.

As an emerging entrepreneur, one must continue to take risks and keep hustling for what one wants. “What people fail to realize is that you can’t do everything,” says Garnett. “If you want to do it, it’s really important to sit down and figure out what is the most important thing.” “There are so many opportunities, but you need to be careful with your time. You have to know what you want and what you’re willing to give up,” Garnett added.

She advises that when you start your own business, you should treat it as if you’re the only one who can do it. “Have the confidence that you’re the only one who can make your business succeed because you are the only one who can make your business succeed. It’s like having a baby and saying, ‘I’m the only one who can give birth.’” “I worked for 10 years and I can’t even name one big bank executive in New York that I have worked with. You really have to work your way up,” she adds.

To become a successful entrepreneur, you should find a mentor who can teach you the skills that will help you along your way in accomplishing your goals. Garnett Phillip is an example of this. It’s always been her dream to own a Caribbean-themed rum bar, and she made her dream come true.
