Rapidly rising artist Christine Sako is releasing yet another masterpiece single called “Coda,” a song about having a person back into one’s life and reopening a new chapter in a book presumed to be already closed from the rest of the world. “Coda” is by far the artist’s most masterful creation to date as it demonstrates the evolution of her sound and songwriting skills. “Coda” comes from a musical term in which a passage in a song concludes a recapitulated theme.
Christine Sako explained the story behind her latest single herself. “This reopening turns into a rewriting of sorts, as previous topics and emotions are revisited and transformed as new information is revealed and evocated. All of the seemingly evolved variables do not change the outcome of the story, however, as they prove to be a ruse in what is ultimately the same truth that had been previously established.
“The crux of the song is about being tired and wanting to move on in the midst of being aware that history is repeating itself. In spite of the desire to let go, there is underlying friction, a tugging in the direction of what we know is not ever going to end well. It’s this conflicting feeling that drives the pleading to have the other party live well enough alone since the strength to do that on one’s own isn’t quite there.”
After hearing Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” in 2022, a fire began burning inside Christine Sako’s heart, a fire to make her own music. Since then, she knew what she wanted to be: a bad-ass guitarist and songwriter inspiring the world with what she has to say musically. At first, she was wary of judgment, and she hid the truth about producing her song. Worried that she might get negative feedback, Christine used to record her songs and send them to her friends under the excuse that she just pulled them off the internet, hoping to get objective feedback without worrying that her friends would sugarcoat their words. The feedback came out positive, and she gained more confidence in releasing her works to more listeners.
In 2009, the artist landed an opportunity to tour with an indie-pop band called Now, Now. She also experienced opening for iconic brands, including Paramore and Paper Route. After gaining experience working with other artists in the industry, Christine Sako wanted to rediscover what it was like to be a solo artist. So in 2012, she drove solo across the country from Minneapolis, MN, to San Diego, CA, with her guitar, 25 key MIDI controller, and a burning passion for music. After settling in, she began writing and recording her first full-length album released in 2014 called The Math Project, featuring a hybrid of acoustic and synth-based pop inspired by the California vibe.
A few years later, in 2021, Christine Sako is back in the music scene with new music for everyone to hear. The evolution of her style in terms of composition was clearly demonstrated from the guitar-driven pop ballad “Sediments” to the upbeat indie-pop single “Seasoned.” Today, Christine has proudly found her signature vocals and beat-driven melodies. She aims to take her listeners on a journey through many emotions, hoping to connect to them on a deeper level.
With her latest single, “Coda,” Christine Sako aims to amplify that she’s ready to reach greater heights in the music industry. “Coda” is the perfect representation of who Christine is as an artist and who she wants to become. The song was written in the summer of 2021 and was tracked and recorded in the artist’s own home in San Diego, CA. Synth bass tracks, vocals, drums, and other synth elements were added to the song to give it an edge over other singles in the music landscape.
