Tyler Perry’s Ruthless Season 3 has been one of the most talked about series of 2022 leading into the new year. The show has garnered a ruthless following of fans who’ve been vocal about the recent twists and turns that have left them speechless.

In the latest episode (18 of Season 3), fans were not prepared for the shocking turn of events. The episode kicked off with “Lacey” (Alise Willis) holding “Zane” ( Michelle Nuñez) and cult member “Josiah” ( TJ Jackson) hostage in an attempt to escape. After tossing hot grease on an elder mother, Lacey knew her time alive was limited.

Surprisingly, Josiah jumped in front of the gun in an effort to protect Zane. Ironically, it was Josiah’s gun that Lacey held them at gunpoint, of which she grabbed when Josiah mistakenly placed it down to assist Zane. If you know anything about the Raku way, that’s a Big mistake; one Josiah would soon pay for.

After an intense back and forth with Josiah and Lacey – arguably one of the highlight moments of the season – Lacey fired the gun after he attempted to grab it, dropping Josiah to the ground. She then took his truck in an attempt to escape, which ultimately led to a shootout with the Raku guards resulting in her death.

After hearing the gunshot fired earlier by Lacey, The Highest (Matt Cedeño) arrived on the scene, discovering a bleeding Josiah and a panicking Zane. Things would then take an interesting turn no one saw coming.

After learning that Josiah not only broke the rules of the Raku way by putting his gun down, but also giving a woman (Lacey) his keys to escape, there was only one thing left for the highest to do. After being embarrassed by one of his trusted soldiers…end him!

In a bizarre twist, Zane volunteered to shoot Josiah. This was a shocker to fans for many reasons. If you’ve been watching the show you’d know violence wasn’t in her true nature. That began to change when she started being taken advantage of by “Manny” ( Joshua Adeyeye) and she introduced him to the “pencil sharpener” given to her by “River” (Colin McCalla). She was also harassed by Raku soldier “Lewis” (Kelvin Hair), in which fans predicted was next to abuse her.

Aiding to the shock, Ruthless fans speculated that Josiah and Zane were a “thing”. After all, you must be in love or crazy if you’re willing to risk the Raku way just to assist a “friend”. Fans even pointed out that Josiah jumped in front of his own gun for Zane as well.

As the episode continued, The Highest coached Zane through handling a gun, after which she pointed at Josiah’s head and pulled the trigger. Fans took to social media to voice their outrage for Mr. Perry killing off a cult member they were warming up to love.

One fan stated, “Josiah started the episode out protecting the very person who eventually took his life, the irony”. Another fan tweeted, “It’s crazy how you would take a bullet for someone, not knowing they’d pull the trigger”. On a more humorous note a tweet read,  “He should’ve never left the Pynk!” (Reference to actor TJ Jackson appearing in Starz “P-Valley” S2).

Every now and then on a series, a character comes along and grows on you when you least expect it. Josiah seems to be that for the Ruthless fans this season. It’s clear he will be missed.
