Weather Update: Western New York’s Snow and Temperature Changes
A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING FOR WYOMING COUNTY remains effective until 7 AM Wednesday. As Monday evening approaches, Rochester experiences predominantly clear skies, accompanied by persistent windy conditions. The night will see temperatures fall to the lower or middle 20s. Lake effect snow showers are impacting areas both to the south and north of Rochester due to westerly winds. This wind direction is anticipated to shift to the northwest overnight, bringing bands of lake effect snow across Rochester beginning Tuesday morning.
Tuesday in Rochester will witness snowfall. The shift in winds to the northwest is expected to bring snowflakes to the area. Despite temperatures reaching the lower 30s, the wind chill will make it feel like the lower 20s or possibly the upper teens. Lake effect snow bands will eventually move out of Rochester, heading back towards the Tug Hill region by Tuesday night.
Wednesday will see a return of warmer air to the Western New York area, aiding in the dissipation of the snow system. Starting Thursday, temperatures will begin to rise again, accompanied by drier weather. A storm system is forecasted to bring a mix of winter weather on Friday, although its exact trajectory remains uncertain. Any precipitation from this system is expected to diminish by the weekend.
