In the Wake of the Pandemic, Service Over Self Foundation Strives to Address Issues That Have Gone Unnoticed

Last year, the onset of the global pandemic threw the world into disarray, creating a ripple of setbacks that can still be felt today. While the COVID-19 situation is still on high alert, other concerns have been building up with little to no media attention. Pulkit Kumar and Dhaniket Patel have kept themselves busy through the pandemic by slowly addressing these problems through Service Over Self Foundation.

Service Over Self Foundation is a non-governmental organization that Kumar and Patel founded to create a lasting, positive change in the world. As the world continues to struggle with flattening the curve that the pandemic brought, the duo shifted their attention to the other happenings on the globe. As climate change continues to grow, fundamental human rights get ignored, and underprivileged kids continue to live a life without access to education. Kumar and Patel decided to take their knowledge to address each problem.

“We work for sustainability, tree plantation drives, ecosystem restoration, oceans, and human health,” the duo shared, “We advocate using sound science, economics, and law to find environmental solutions that work. Also, educate people on how to maintain sustainability in their own life. We’re also promoting the use of biodegradable plastic. Next, our objective is also wildlife preservation, reducing carbon footprint and negative human impact on the environment.”

Founder Pulkit Kumar and Dhaniket Patel revealed that they started the foundation because they believed it was the need of the hour. As the average temperature of the earth continues to rise, the concentration of CO2 has been rising in the atmosphere, making it necessary for immediate actions to occur. Service Over Self Foundation strives to address the exploitation of nature and human rights that no one has recognized.

Although the pandemic has been a major factor in the foundation’s mission, Service Over Self successfully reached some communities, encouraging them to shift their lifestyle and use biodegradable plastic and take public transport for short-distance travels.

“On a macro level, we plan to create alternative energy sources ourselves with the help of science and research, which will be a major contribution in sustaining the planet,” revealed Kumar and Patel. “We think of this as more of a duty of every single individual, and we do it to educate people about making the right choice for our future.”

Service Over Self Foundation is not the first organization put together by Pulkit Kumar and Dhaniket Patel. Last year, they founded the UofA Cancer Society, another organization focused on raising funds for cancer research, providing students with research opportunities, and raising awareness about cancer. Since then, they shifted their attention to the condition of the world and its inhabitants. Their primary focus with Service Over Self is to positively contribute towards social changes as they attempt to reverse climate change through tree plantation drives, encourage sustainable energy sources for the planet, help underprivileged kids get an education, and raise voices wherever fundamental human rights are being violated.

The goal of Service Over Self Foundation is not to get people to reach the foundation but for them to reach out to people. Kumar and Patel plan to grow the foundation to an international level, reaching people, educating them, and helping the underprivileged in every part of the world.Learn more about Service Over Self Foundation by visiting their Instagram page.
