New York Fashion Week has always been about pushing boundaries, but it was all about bringing back the magic this season. Richie Rich’s “Care Bears™ Loves Richerette” show was an explosion of nostalgia, color, and pure, unfiltered joy—a throwback to Y2K fashion at its most playful.
Held at the stylish DOM LOUNGE, this high-energy runway event marked 20 years since Richie Rich first joined forces with the Care Bears under Heatherette, and this latest collaboration proved just as iconic. Produced by La Faye & Powell and presented by Gen Art, the show fused high fashion with childhood fantasy, reminding us all why we fell in love with the Care Bears in the first place.

“The Care Bears are very real to me, and I was thrilled to see them dancing down the runway in their unique way,” Richie Rich said. “Twenty years ago, we created magic with Heatherette and Care Bears, and now, with Richerette, I’m excited to reimagine that magic in a whole new way.”
The collection was a dreamlike mix of bold prints, plush textures, and eye-popping colors—including actual plush Care Bears transformed into wearable art. Models took the runway in Ground Up’s Care Bears-inspired sneakers, slides, and cozy slippers, while Lidia Talavera provided ultra-glam, custom-designed high heels. Beauty-wise, Gary Baker for UNITE created sleek, wet-look hair and playful wigs, Romana New York painted faces with bold rainbow hues, and Bernadette Thompson designed custom Care Bear-themed nail art that was nothing short of showstopping.
The guest list? Star-studded. Ja Rule, Fern Mallis, Max Alexander, Kate Lanphear, and Nick Haramis were among those watching as fashion met fantasy on the runway. After the show, the energy continued with an exclusive afterparty featuring DJ Matt J Hall, complete with an open bar stocked with Aupale Vodka, Davos Tequila, and Boxed Water Is Better—a nod to indulgence and sustainability.

Presented in partnership with Gen Art, the event celebrated fearless creativity. Marc Harvey, Artistic Director of Gen Art, said, “Collaborating with Richie Rich and Care Bears for this show ideally embodies Gen Art’s mission of pushing boundaries and celebrating fearless creativity.”

With this show, Richie Rich highlighted how fashion can be playful, nostalgic, and meaningful, offering a fresh take on the Care Bears’ timeless message of love, positivity, and self-expression. The collection was a reminder of how these values still resonate today, showcasing the enduring appeal of both the fashion and the brand. Through his designs, Richie Rich successfully blended whimsical elements with heartfelt themes, creating a memorable moment that captured the spirit of both past and present.
