Hylynd Combines a Unique Mix of Vintage and Modern Sounds in Latest Single, ‘Glory Halle’ (Hallelujah)

In the past two decades, technological innovation has made great leaps, and the introduction of the internet opened a new door to a whole generation. For recording artist Hylynd, transitioning from a time before the internet to a digital landscape has been instrumental in helping him shape his music.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Hylynd is a musically intelligent individual who has been building on the momentum of his breakout EP Born in the Night. He has worked with various figures in the industry, including Grammy-nominated and Hall of Fame vocal coach Jan Smith, who describes Hylynd as “a ridiculous talent and vocal athlete.” In the last two years, the up-and-coming artist signed non-exclusive publishing deals with Sonata, a branch of Soundscape Agency in London, 411 Music Group in Los Angeles, and Audio Music Group in Nashville.

The artist has been featured in several media outlets that have given him nothing but high praises throughout his career. On Sony published “Falcon’s Mixtape’s Motor City Classix,” Hylynd swooned listeners with the 1982 Marvin Gaye classic, “Sexual Healing”. Gas Mask Magazine later called the artist “an R&B Justin Timberlake/Bieber vibe with his own twist.”

“The synthesized sound paired with his smooth voice puts us in a dream-like state that has us wishing we could be with ‘the one,’” they described. “The bass hits perfectly in stride with the melody of the chorus. Pair that along with the lyrics, which would make any girl swoon, and we got ourselves a song that is radio ready.”

Hylynd is no mere bedroom producer. Instead, he is a songwriting and hit-producing machine with smooth R&B/Pop vocals comparable to Justin Timberlake and the pop and melodic sensibility of Max Martin. Hylynd cites pop icons Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Mariah Carey as his primary influences, along with rock legends like Led Zeppelin & Queen. Taking after his idols, the artist’s songwriting carries the DNA of timeless songs.

Like most millennials, Hylynd grew up between two worlds—pre-internet and the present. When the world shifted suddenly, scopes were widened, and ideas were challenged, causing many to grow. Many millennials thought and acted quickly but still retained old and present souls. “My music is made for these people,” said the artist.

As an artist, Hylynd has the freshness of a forward-leaning artist with the depth of an early ‘90s one. His base isn’t inherently religious but carries a sense of spirituality that listeners can feel within the melodies and colors of the sounds. He also takes pride as a Swiss army knife of an artist with his fluency in recording programs like Pro Tools, Logic, and Ableton, which has made him a sought-after vocal producer for his unique sound and processing knowledge.

Hylynd’s incredible career can be attributed to his early curiosity in music, which began when he was two years old. Starting with the drums, the young musician quickly moved on to singing & piano, then later to guitar. When he grew older, Hylynd delved into producing & music directing and putting together live shows, taking an expansive and musically brilliant approach, not unlike Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who bounces around on and off the mic to the piano, guitars, and synths. With an ever-growing Spotify listening base & career still on the rise, Hylynd is bound to be a prolific name in the music industry.
